Vilegodsky District
The Wilegodski rayon (Russian Вилегодский муниципальный район / Wilegodski munizipalny rayon ) is an administrative unit within the Arkhangelsk Oblast, Russia. It is located southeast of the Oblasthauptstadt Arkhangelsk. The administrative center is the Selo Iljinsko - Podomskoje.
Geography
The Wilegodski rayon is located in the extreme southeast of Arkhangelsk Oblast at the boundaries of Kirov Oblast and the Republic of Komi. To the west of the Kotlasski Rajon rajon adjacent and north of the Lenski rayon. The area of 6310 km ² is Rajon. From east to west of the eponymous Rajon 321 km long river flows through Wiled rajon the Wilegodski.
History
The area of present-day Wilegodski rajon was already inhabited in the second millennium BC by the Finno- Ugric tribes. In the 10th and 11th centuries, the Russian North was increasingly colonized by the Novgorod settlers. In 1929 this part of the Severny Krai ( Северный край ) and 1936 part of the Severnaya Oblast ( Северная область ). 1937 was the Wilegodski finally rayon in the stock of the newly formed Arkhangelsk Oblast. In the following years there were some regional reforms in which parts of Rajon at the Kirov Oblast and the Kotlaski and Lenski yet rayon.

Administrative divisions
The Rajon is divided into six municipalities ( муниципальное образование ). All communities have the status of a rural community ( сельское поселение ). Within the Rajon is neither a town with city status nor a urban-type settlement. In Wilegodski rajon live 11,158 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ), which corresponds to 0.94 % of the population of the Arkhangelsk Oblast. [NB 1]
Economy and Transport
The unemployment rate in 2012 at 5.5 %, well above the average rate of Arkhangelsk Oblast of 1.5%.
