Ilyinsko-Podomskoye
Iljinsko - Podomskoje (Russian Ильинско - Подомское ) is a village ( selo ) in Northwest Russia. It is part of the Arkhangelsk Oblast and has 3682 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ). The Selo is the administrative center of the 6310 km ² large rayon Wilegodski.
Geography
Iljinsko - Podomskoje located in the southeast of Arkhangelsk Oblast, 530 km southeast of the well Oblasthauptstadt Arkhangelsk. The nearest town Korjazhma, located about 48 km north- west of Iljinsko - Podomskoje. By Selo of the 321 km long river runs Wiled ( Виледь ).
History
Iljinsko - Podomskoje was created in 1379 with the creation of a parish by the Russian missionary Stephen of Perm. Whether before the missionary was a settlement on the territory of today Selo, is not known. In the 16th century the area came under the influence of the Russian merchant Stroganov family. Iljinsko - Podomskoje was to protect these converted into a trading station for traders on the way from Moscow to Siberia and became a fortress.
In 1924 Iljinsko - Podomskoje administrative center of the newly established Wilegodski was rayon and in 1937 became part of the Arkhangelsk Oblast.
