Kuloy

Kuloi (Russian Кулой ) is an urban-type settlement in North West Russia. It belongs to the Arkhangelsk Oblast and has 5946 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

Kuloi located a few kilometers northeast of the same name, right tributary of the Waga, Kuloi, not to be confused with another of the same name, which opens into the Mesenbusen of the White Sea river.

The settlement is part of the Welski rayon and is located about 24 kilometers east of the administrative center Velsk.

History

The settlement was founded in the 1940s in connection with the railway in 1945 and received the status of an urban-type settlement.

Infrastructure

The village lies on the built during the Second World War railway Konosha - Kotlas - Vorkuta ( Pechora railway, route 845 kilometers from Moscow, 139 from Konosha ). She is also the station route Yaroslavl - Vologda - Arkhangelsk, the Northern Railway.
