Vince Spadea

Vincent " Vince " Spadea (born 19 July 1974 in Chicago ) is a former American professional tennis player.

Career

Spadea in 1993 pro. In just his second year on the ATP Tour, he finished the season in the top 100 of the world tennis ranking as the youngest Americans. He was initially successful in doubles competitions than in the single, as he celebrated his first title of 1995 in the doubles competition of Buenos Aires. Also in 2005 he graduated from the youngest American in the top 100. 1997 was followed by two further double success in Orlando and Tashkent.

In the following years he gained notoriety by a run of 21 defeats in a row, he could break at Wimbledon against Greg Rusedski only in the 2000 season. As a result of this failure, he worked in the 2001 season more in the ATP Challenger Series, where he won the tournament in Houston and also reached three other finals. In 2002 he won another Challenger tournament in Miami.

In the 2003 season, he struggled through good results especially in Masters tournaments again high in the world rankings. So he reached the semi-finals of the Indian Wells Masters and the Masters tournament in Monte Carlo. Then in 2004 was his most successful season, he was able to crown with his only singles title Scottsdale. He also was pleased with $ 704,105 in prize money, which also made his most lucrative year 2004.
