Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends (Spanish or engl for:. "Long live the life or death and all his friends " ) is the fourth studio album by English rock band Coldplay. The album was released in German-speaking countries on 13 June 2008.

Background

Already in 2007 there was speculation about a successor to the published 2005 album X & Y. Because of dissatisfaction with the band so far completed all material was discarded and set a new release date for the spring of 2008. This was ultimately postponed again. Under the heading prospectus published on the website of two new songs Coldplay - Famous Old Painters and Glass of Water - announced. Coldplay worked on this album with Brian Eno, who has influenced the musical style of her album X & Y. The first single Violet Hill was released in Germany on 9 May 2008.
