Vojkovice (Karlovy Vary District)

Vojkovice ( German Wickwitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located six kilometers east of Ostrov nad Ohri and belongs to Okres Karlovy Vary.

Geography

Vojkovice is located at the northwestern foot of the mountains in the valley of the Eger Doupov below the confluence of the Bystřice. To the west, the Sokolov basin spreads out to the north lies the Ore Mountains. North-east rises Mount Travná (Grass Mountain, 827 m). In the East, the community is adjacent to the training area Hradiště.

Neighboring towns are Damice and Horni Hrad in the north, Straz nad Ohri in the northeast, Jakubov in the east, Velichov in the south, Radošov in the southwest, and Ostrov nad Ohri Mořičov in the west and Květnová and Ovcarna in the northwest.

The former eastern villages Olšenice ( Olschnitz ) and Tocov ( Totzau ) as well as in the southeast Petrov ( Petersdorf ) and Lipoltov ( Lappersdorf ) were cleared and destroyed in the construction of the military area.

History

The first written mention of the village took place in 1088. 1226 Vojkovice was provided as part of the district Zettlitz under the administration of the castle Loket. Vicarage was Velichov.

From 1850 formed Wickwitz a municipality in the district Jáchymov. Between 1870 and 1873 the Buštěhrad Railway Company ( BEB) built along the Eger and Wistritz the distance from Chomutov to Eger, received a rail connection with the Wickwitz. 1890 lived 435 people in Wickwitz. 1895 created on the initiative of Heinrich Mattoni from Burgstadtlberg by the Egertal up to its mineral water source and the spa Sauerbrunn at the mouth of Lamnitzbaches local railway Wickwitz - Gießhübl - Sauerbrunn was put into operation. 1930 the community had 770 inhabitants. As a result of the Munich Agreement in 1938, it was annexed by the German Reich. 1939 lived 714 people in Wickwitz. From 1938 to 1945 Wickwitz was part of the German district Jáchymov and came to the end of the Second World War back to Czechoslovakia. From 1949 to 1960, the village belonged to Okres Karlovy Vary - okolí and since 1961 Okres Karlovy Vary. 1961 Jakubov was incorporated. In the 1990s, the closure of the railway line Vojkovice - Kysibl - Kyselka was.

Community structure

The Vojkovice consists of the districts Jakubov ( Jokes) and Vojkovice ( Wickwitz ), at the same time also form Katastralbezirke. Basic settlement units are Jakubov, Novy Svet and Vojkovice. To Vojkovice also the settlements Hradiště ( Burgstadtl ) Jakšovy Domky ( Gakschhäuseln ) Mlýn Na Ohri ( Egermühle ) and V Olšinkách include ( Erletzgraben ).
