Vossloh Euro

The Vossloh EURO 4000 is a diesel-electric locomotive, which is produced by the company Vossloh factory Albuixech at Valencia in Spain. By the end of 2011, approximately 50 pieces of the locomotive in eight different countries have been delivered.

History

The Vossloh EURO 4000 Diesel Inc. was developed in close cooperation with the American company Electro-Motive at a time when the Spanish plant was still part of Alstom. As Vossloh bought this plant in 2004, the locomotive was practically fully developed. Similarities in technology and partly to look older Alstom products such as JT 42BW, JT 42CW or JT 42HW -HS are obvious.

Two different versions of the EURO 4000 were designed: one for the passenger and one for freight. The passenger version can reach a top speed of 160 km / hr. The locomotive is 123 tons and has an axle load of 20.5 tonnes. It was built so far only the freight version. In Spain, the locomotive is designated as class 335, in Sweden it is called with T68, in Portugal as series 6001, where it is used by Takargo Rail.

In addition to the Euro 4000 there is also a known as Euro 3000 Type with 2,390 kW ( 3,250 hp) and only 4 axes, which reaches a top speed of 200 km / hr. The built between 2006 and 2008 28 locomotives of this type, classified in Spain as 334 series, created using parts of Renfe series 333.0 and 319.3. Vossloh took over for that purpose by Renfe 28 old locomotives were obtained from which the command, the main generator and the alternator used on. The Euro 3000 are used in passenger traffic on the route Madrid - Murcia used. Another 15 of these locomotives will be delivered from 2012 to Israel Railways (ISR ). Both types were presented in 2006 at InnoTrans.

The first Euro 4000 was built in 2006 and exhibited in Vossloh finish at InnoTrans. After some tests were carried out on different routes in Germany before the locomotive was sent back to Spain and was later delivered to Angel Trains Cargo (ATC). The locomotive has received their approval for the Spanish power in July 2008. Also in 2008, was admitted for Sweden. Admission rides for Germany, Belgium and France began in 2009. Approval for France by the Etablissement Public de Sécurité Ferroviaire (ESRP ) on February 1, 2010.

Use

The leasing company Angel Trains International, ordered 18 of these locomotives in Iberian broad gauge for the Spanish market and 12 for use in Germany, Belgium and France. Later, the order was modified and delivered a total of 24 broad gauge locomotives. The first locomotives in D / B / F features instead went to the leasing company Beacon Rail, owned by the Bank of Tokyo and Japan's Mitsubishi. This company had previously ordered six locomotives for use in Norway. VFLI has ordered six locomotives Beacon Rail, the first locomotives are in use since 2012.

The first private provider in Portugal, has Takargo, 14, Vossloh locomotives for cross -border traffic Portugal - Spain ordered, seven of which have been delivered.

In addition to Spain and Portugal, Euro 4000 are used in freight transport in the countries France, Belgium, Germany, Sweden and Norway. 2011 took place the first order and delivery to Israel.

Technology

The locomotive is powered by a V16 two-stroke diesel engine of the type EMD 16-710 G3C U2. With a tank capacity of 7,000 liters distances of up to 2000 km can be covered without stopping. The use of a multiple traction is possible.
