Vrbno pod Pradědem

Vrbno pod Pradědem ( German Würbenthal ) is a city in Okres Bruntál in the Czech Republic. It is located in Altvatergebirge, 12 km north-east of the patriarch. In the valley north of the Vrbno Oppa forms from the confluence of its headwaters, the blacks, whites and Middle Oppa. West of the city on the castle hill are the remains of the castle Fiirstenwalde. Vrbno is connected to the micro-region Vrbensko.

History

The first known settlement today originated in the 13th century. The village became a town by Henry of Vrbno on 24 June 1611.

On 5 December 1880, the site received rail connection through the state railway Ebersdorf - Würbenthal.

The city Würbenthal had on December 1, 1930 3,984 inhabitants, on 17 May 1939 were 3,934. Between 1938 and 1945 Würbenthal belonged to the district of Freudenthal.

Due to the so-called Beneš decrees, the proportion of the German population was expropriated in 1945 and sold. On May 22, 1947 Würbenthal had 2,327 residents.
