Vysoké Tatry
Vysoke Tatry is the name of a town in northern Slovakia ( Prešov kraj ) in the High Tatras with about 4,500 inhabitants. Vysoke Tatry called in German " High Tatras ".
The city was founded in 1990 under the name of Stary Smokovec new and renamed the High Tatras 1999. Already from 1947 to 1960, however, existed on a slightly larger area, the municipality of High Tatras. But had also in the period 1964 to 1990, the individual communities ( Stary Smokovec was classified as a city ) on the territory of the former unified community continues to be a joint management in Stary Smokovec.

Today the city covers 14 formerly independent municipalities, which are divided into three districts:

The administrative headquarters is located in Stary Smokovec. The city stretches 46 kilometers from Podbanské ( in the west) until after Tatranská Kotlina (in the east ).
Traffic
Through the city extends the so-called Cesta Sloboda ( road of freedom, name: II/537 and I/67 ), where there are almost all settlements. Other streets are links to Podtatranská kotlina (sub - Tatra boiler).
There is also a rail link, the narrow-gauge Electric Tatra car linking the main settlements and the town of Poprad. Rather, the cog railway Štrba - Štrbské Pleso connects Štrbské Pleso with Tatranská Štrba, a district of Štrba. At the stations of Poprad, or Tatranská Štrba there is a connection to the railway line Žilina - Košice.
The Poprad-Tatry Airport is 14 km from Stary Smokovec.
