Walter William Curtis

Walter William Curtis ( May 3, 1913 in Jersey City, † 18 October 1997) was bishop of Bridgeport.

Life

Walter William Curtis received on 18 December 1937, the sacrament of Holy Orders.

Pope Benedict XVI. appointed him on 27 June 1957 to the Auxiliary Bishop of Newark and Titular Bishop of Bisica. The Archbishop of Newark, Thomas Aloysius Boland, donated to him on 24 September of the same year the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were the Bishop of Paterson, James Aloysius McNulty, and the Bishop of Trenton, George William Ahr.

On September 23, 1961, Pope John XXIII. Curtis Bishop of Bridgeport. On 21 November of that year he was introduced to the office.

Walter William Curtis attended all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council as part of a Council Father.

Pope John Paul II took on June 28, 1988, to its age-related withdrawal.
