Wang Meng (speed skater)

Wang Meng (Chinese王 蒙, Pinyin Wang Meng, born April 10, 1985 in Harbin ) is a Chinese Shorttrackerin and as a four -time Olympic champion just before Chun Lee - kyung ( also four gold, one silver less) successful female athlete of the discipline.

Career

At the Olympic Winter Games 2006 in Turin, she won over 500 m short track speed skating, the first gold medal for the Chinese team in these Olympics. In the subsequent 1000 - or 1500 - meter race Wang Meng won the silver and the bronze medal. So they took care of three of the eleven medals the Chinese team.

Wang Meng won already twenty gold medals at world championships, too. They also reached at the World Championships a total of fourteen silver and three bronze medals.

At the Olympic Games 2010 in Vancouver Wang Meng won three gold medals in short track speed skating. This was the second most successful female athlete this Olympics behind Marit Bjørgen. In the 2014 Olympics she was absent due to injury.
