Warpaint (band)

Warpaint is an experimental American rock band from Los Angeles, California.

History

Although the band was founded in 2004, a first publication took place four years later. The previously tested pieces of music can be found on the debut EP Exquisite Corps again, which was mixed and mastered by former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante. The success of Exquisite Corps gave the band in the wake of appearances at concerts Yeasayer, Vampire Weekend and The XX.

The first album The Fool was released on 25 October 2010 on the Rough Trade label. From the Music Express The Fool was awarded album of the month of November. The UK's New Musical Express devoted Warpaint on a magazine cover titled The new queens of the underground. From the BBC they were nominated for Sound of 2011. On January 17, 2014, the album was released Warpaint.

Style

Musically there is Warpaint again in a mixture of post-punk and post-rock, offering a repertoire of melancholy tracks that carry an atmospheric gravity and remind of bands like The Cure, Joy Division and early Cocteau Twins.
