Warwick Avenue tube station

Warwick Avenue is an underground station of the London Underground in the urban district of City of Westminster. It is located in the Travelcard Zone 2, at the junction of Warwick Avenue, Warrington Crescent and Clifton Gardens. In 2011, 4.3 million passengers used the area served by the Bakerloo Line Station.

There is no actual station building, the access to the platforms is done by two different inputs from a mezzanine with ticket offices. Warwick Avenue is one of the first London Underground stations, which were planned from the beginning escalators instead of elevators. On a traffic island in the middle of the street stands the austere tower of a ventilation shaft.

The opening of the station on January 31, 1915 as part of the commissioning of the distance between Paddington and Kilburn Park. During the planning phase, the station name Warrington Crescent was still provided.

Warwick Avenue is also a song by the Welsh singer Duffy, released in May 2008 as a single. In it she mentions the metro station: " When I get to Warwick Avenue ... Meet me by the entrance of the tube. " ( When I get to Warwick Avenue ... Meet me at the entrance to the subway. )
