Wayne Wonder ( born July 26, 1972 in Buff Bay, Jamaica; actually by Wayne Charles) is a Jamaican reggae and dancehall singjay.

Charles was born in 1972 in the town of Buff Bay in Portland Parish, Jamaica. His mother was a well-known local choir singer in the Galilee Gospel Church and he himself began early age in the church choir, Sunday church to sing. Early on, he and his family moved to the eastern part of Kingston, Jamaica. At first he lived in the district Dunkirk, and later in the quarter Rae Town and the city of Franklin Town in Kingston Parish. He wrote his first songs at the age of 13 years. The name Wayne Wonder he got from his friends because they were " surprised " that was going on in his head. He was from childhood a great singing talent. Charles was known everywhere that he delivered his songs and managed to enchant the audience.
Charles has been married since 2002 and has a daughter (born 1991) and a son (born 2006). He lives with his family in 2004 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA. He has his own studio in New York.

His career began at Metro Media in Allman Town, Jamaica, where every Wednesday held a singing competition in which he took part regularly. There he was discovered and promoted by Sly Dunbar. A contract was signed with the label Sonic Records failed, however, because he preferred the company of a Roots artist Black Uhuru on his tour. The turning point in his career began when he met the well-known producer and label owner King Tubby. In 1985, under whose production the first single from Wayne Wonder named " Long and Lasting Love ". In addition to several original titles Wayne sings under Tubby directed several cover versions of popular songs, including Rick Astley's " Never Gonna Give You Up ", a. In the early nineties Wonder met his old school friend Dave Kelly who was a successful producer at the label Penthouse Records. At the time one of the most famous labels for dancehall music. Together they published a series of hits including songs like "Searching The Searching", " The Saddest day of my life", "Sweet and Sour ", " Bashment Girl," " Rainbow, " and "Glamour Girl". The unloved cover songs do not stay out. Wayne Wonder interpreted, among others, Tracy Chapman's " Fast Car ", " Die Without You" by PM Dawn and En Vogue's "Hold On". The song of Wayne Wonder 1991 helps to greater awareness, also comes not from himself: "Movie Star" based on the hit "I Do not Know Why " by Delroy Wilson. In the same year his second album called "Part 2 " is displayed. Wayne Wonder plays a major role in the formation of the first successes of the deejays Buju Banton. He wrote his early success hits " Murderer", "Boom By By " and " Deportee ". In 1992 he takes with Banton the duet " Bonafide Love" on a world-famous hit. The song was released with the song " Movie Star" together on the label Penthouse Records. Together, the two went on tour through the U.S. and Europe. After Banton signs with the U.S. label Mercury Records Wonder works again with Dave Kelly together the now owner of the label Madhouse and Xtra Large. In cooperation emerge in the nineties numerous hits, among others. " Joyride ", " Keep Them Coming" and " Bashment Gal " preferably appeared on the label Madhouse. Together they founded the band Alias , in which all the band members appear under pseudonyms. Wayne Wonder places the name to Surprize. 2000 to today
In 2000, Wayne Wonder founded Singso Records his own record label, but on which he himself brings out no songs. However, he has worked for most publications as a producer. In 2001, he remixed for rapper Foxy Brown his old song The Saddest Day to a new version. This appeared on her album Broken Silence. A year later, the song No Letting Go appears on the popular Diwali riddim that makes him world famous. The song reached number 11 on the U.S. Billboard charts. Following this success, Wayne Wonder completed a contract with Atlantic Records. There, published in 2003 his two albums No Holding Back and You Me And She, with many famous musicians such as Elephant Man in support. The album No Holding Back received a Grammy nomination for Best Reggae Album of the Year and other awards, despite earlier bad criticism. Between 2004 and 2005, denied Wayne Wonder along with his combo Entourage. In 2007 he released his last album Foreva the time being with the year before published hit single I Still Believe.
