Weldon (footballer)

Weldon Santos de Andrade ( born August 6, 1980 in Santo André ), better known as Weldon, is a Brazilian footballer who is since summer of 2013 as a striker at Criciúma EC under contract.

Career

Weldon began his career with the Brazilian top club Santos. After two lackluster years of 1.87 cm striker moved within Brazil to Brasiliense FC. After six months he moved again to the club and joined Sport Recife, where he also handed in his best season to Dato. Not even a year later, he joined the club again and landed at AA Ponte Preta. There, too, he showed his scoring prowess to the test and moved abroad for the first time in his career. The target was the United Arab Emirates, specifically Dubai to Al -Nasr.

At 25, he moved back to Brazil for top club Cruzeiro. He did not like the years before, only one season, but remained there contractually four years in which he was, however, awarded to four different clubs. From 2006 to mid- 2007, he was awarded six months at FC Sochaux, Troyes and his former club Sport Recife.

He had spent at Belenenses Lisbon when he was until 2008 awarded to them from mid-2007, his best season. He has scored twelve goals under coach Jorge Jesus in 27 games. Immediately after the season Sport Recife has obliged him again, but let a season later move back to Portugal. Specifically to Benfica, where he was, however, used as a reserve player.

In summer 2011, Weldon Portugal left and joined the Romanian first division side CFR Cluj. There, he scored in the first round seven goals in twelve games.

In February 2012, he was then loaned for one year to the Chinese first division club Changchun Yatai. Changchun Yatai paid a rental fee of the equivalent of one million Euros and has secured a purchase option. Early 2013, he returned to Cluj.
