Werner Dittrich

Werner Dittrich ( born June 9, 1937 in Reichenau ) is a former German weightlifter.

Career

In the late 1950s, Zittau developed a stronghold of the German weightlifting. There were three weightlifters from this region, which led the coach Heinz Kahl in the top. Besides Werner Dittrich these were Manfred Rieger and Charles Arnold.

Along with Rudolf Mang from Bell Mountain in Bavarian Swabia, these were the first German weightlifters who constituted after the 2nd World War absolute world class. Werner Dittrich was the weightlifter friends first came to prominence when he was in 1958 at the Junior Championships of the GDR with 317.5 kg champion at lightweight. He came from the now Polish Reichenbach and only came in 1957 as emigrants with his parents in the GDR. 1960 and 1964, he sat by at the all-German exudates against the West German Willi piston and Albert Huser and represented Germany at the Olympic Games. Although Werner Dittrich won several medals at European and World Championships, he had at the Olympics always unlucky and could, although he participated in four times because not win a medal. He had bad luck in 1965, when he the same performance as Viktor Kurenzow achieved both at the European Championships and at the World Championships, but each time was a little harder than this and therefore had to settle for second place. His best performance on average weight was 447.5 kg in the Olympic triathlon.

Werner Dittrich was only 1.60 m tall, raised first in the lightweight ( to 67.5 kg of body weight) and then grew up in the middleweight ( 75 kg body weight) into it. He was a member of BSG Motor Zittau and the SC Einheit Dresden and locksmith by profession.

GDR Championships

Werner Dittrich was eleven times GDR champion in the all around in light, medium or light heavyweight and won from 1969 to 1972, four East German Championship titles in the individual disciplines Press, Snatch and jerk.
