Wes Farrell

Wes Farrell ( born December 21, 1939 in New York City; † February 29, 1996 in Miami, Florida ) was an American musician, songwriter and music producer.

Life

The career of the native New Yorker Wes Farrell began in the late 1950s with the first success as a songwriter, which include for instance be composed together with Luther Dixon song Boys ( 1960) is one of the Shirelles, which was recorded in 1963 by The Beatles. In 1965, he co-wrote with Bert Russell the Millionenhit Hang On, Sloopy for the pop group The McCoys, which he also produced himself.

Particularly well-known Farrell was his theme song ( Come On, Get Happy) and numerous other songs for the co-produced by him television series The Partridge Family ( 1970-1974 ). In addition to the two " Partridge" cast members David Cassidy and Shirley Jones Farrell worked with, among others, Neil Diamond, Barry Manilow, Wayne Newton, Timi Yuro and the pop group Elephant's Memory. For the Scottish singer Lulu, he produced their title song Man with the Golden Gun from the eponymous James Bond film. Overall, Farrell won over 100 gold records.

As a music producer Farrell worked in the 1960s and 1970s for the 1954 formed record label Bell Records; after its sale to Screen Gems, he founded the label Chelsea Records. With his company " Coral Rock Commercials" he produced next to the music for numerous television commercials. In 1992 he founded the music publishing house " Music Entertainment Group" ( MEG ), whose CEO he remained until his death.

Wes Farrell died on 29 February 1996 in Coconut Grove, a suburb of Miami, from cancer.

Family

Farrell married in 1965 Joan Arthurs; from the 1972 divorced originates daughter Dawn. His marriage in 1974 with Frank Sinatra's daughter Tina Sinatra remained childless and ended in divorce a few years later. From 1978 to 1981 Farrell was married to actress Pamela Hensley. For his fourth marriage with the real estate agent Jean Inman 's two sons Wesley and Sky emerged.
