West India Quay DLR station

West India Quay is a station on the Docklands Light Railway (DLR ) in the London Borough London Borough of Tower Hamlets. It is located in the Travelcard Zone 2 to the former West India Docks, on the northern edge of the Isle of Dogs.

The station has four tracks and two island platforms. These are located on a viaduct which spans a former harbor. Here, the coming forth of Lewisham route branches to the routes to Tower Gateway / Bank or to Stratford. The closest station to the south, Canary Wharf is only just 199 meters away - the shortest distance between stations of a railway transport network in London.

Was opened the station on 31 August 1987, together with the basic network of the DLR. It consisted at first of only two tracks and a short middle platform. From 1991 until 28 June 1993, the station was closed and was completely re- built in this period.

West India Quay will be the closest station to the train station under construction Canary Wharf Crossrail, which will open in 2018.
