Publication

Originally, the release of the album in the UK was scheduled for January 30, but it was brought forward to January 23. On the day of publication, Whatever People Say I Am sold, That's What I'm Not just a little less than 120,000 times, making it so far the fastest-selling debut album in British music history. In the United States about 34,000 copies were sold in the first week and the album reached number 24 of the local charts. As in Britain, the album was also in Ireland and Australia No. 1 on the album charts.

Cover

The cover of the CD is Chris McClure, a friend of the band, while smoking dar. It was criticized by the Scottish National Health Service because it glorifies smoking. The product manager of the Arctic Monkeys but denied this and said it was doing Chris McClure not good to smoke. Yet in March 2006, McClure wanted to stop smoking for lack of money, but was unsuccessful. The CD kept the cover above, on billboards but a similar figure was used without cigarette.
