Wienerwald, Austria

The municipality of Vienna Forest is in the northern part of the eponymous Alps spur ( Vienna Woods ), in the district of Mödling. The municipality with 2488 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) was created in 1972 as part of local government reform by the merger of the four communities ( Dornbach, Grub, Sittendorf and Sulz im Wienerwald ) and is the largest area in the district of Mödling.

The development of the former municipalities:

  • Dornbach [ 220 Ew. ] ( Identical with the cadastral Dornbach ) consists of the place Dornbach, the rotting Lindenhof, a small part of Buchelbach and the rotting hard conducting, which lies on the main road in Sulz. The mandrel Bach is mentioned in 1136 in the foundation book of the Holy Cross Abbey, the place itself for the first time 1236.
  • Sittendorf [ 427 Ew. ] ( Identical with the cadastral Sittendorf ) consists of the place Sittendorf and the rotting Wildegg ( with its castle ) and a part of Neuweg. 1114 first mentioned in a Klosterneuburger codes.   • Sulz im Wienerwald [ 1283 Ew. ] Since the establishment of municipalities in the years 1849 to 1934 the cadastral Sulz and Stangau were together independently as a church ' Sulz- Stangau '. 1934 separated the cadastral Stangau of Sulz. Renaming the community Stangau in ' Wöglerin ' was dropped again due to high costs. Sulz was renamed ' Sulz im Wienerwald '. 1954 reunited with Stangau as a community ' Sulz im Wienerwald ' own. History

On 6 August 1981, a jet aircraft of the armed forces of the type Saab crashed 105Ö ( Lfz GI -19 S.Nr.: 105419 ) in the cadastral Grub from. The jet crashed at the home of Karl Musil, principal dancer at the Vienna State Opera. The artist, his wife and two children suffered severe burns. Economy
