William G. Curlin

William George Curlin ( born August 30, 1927 in Portsmouth, United States) is a retired Bishop of Charlotte.

Life

William George Curlin received on 25 May 1957, ordained priest for the Archdiocese of Washington.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on November 2, 1988 Titular Bishop of Rossmarkaeum and auxiliary bishop in Washington.

He received his episcopal consecration of Washington's archbishop, Cardinal James Aloysius Hickey, on 20 December of the same year; Eugene Antonio Marino co-consecrators were SSJ, Archbishop of Atlanta, and Alvaro Corrada del Rio SJ, Auxiliary Bishop of Washington.

On February 22, 1994, he was appointed bishop of Charlotte and ceremoniously introduced to the office on 13 April of the same year. On 10 September 2002 John Paul II accepted his resignation due to age.
