William John Brennan

William John Brennan ( born February 16, 1938 in Arncliffe, New South Wales; † August 31, 2013 in Randwick, Sydney, New South Wales) was Bishop of Wagga Wagga.

Life

William Brennan studied philosophy and theology at the Pontifical Urban University in Rome. The Cardinal Prefect of the Congregation de Propaganda Fide, and the Patriarch of Cilicia, Grégoire -Pierre XV. Cardinal Agagianian, ordained him a priest on 20 December 1961 of the diocese of Wilcannia -Forbes.

Pope John Paul II appointed him on 16 January 1984 Bishop of Wagga Wagga. The Archbishop of Sydney, Edward Bede Clancy, donated to him on March 1 of the same year the episcopal ordination; Were co-consecrators Luigi Barbarito, Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Australia, and Francis Patrick Carroll, Archbishop of Canberra and Goulburn.

In 1992 he founded the seminary Vianney College in Wagga Wagga. He was the rector, and worked with the Roman Urbania and Charles Sturt University. The seminar now serves the dioceses of Wagga Wagga, Lismore and Armidale.

On 5 February 2002, Pope John Paul II accepted his pre- mounted for health reasons resignation.

He was the nephew of William Joseph Brennan (1904-1975), Bishop of Toowoomba.
