Willie Rennie

Willie Rennie ( born September 27, 1967) is a Scottish politician and member of the Liberal Democrats.

Rennie grew up in Strathmiglo and attended Bell Baxter High School in Cupar. He then went to the Paisley College and graduated as Bachelor of biology. A year later, he received an economics degree from Glasgow College. He lives with his wife and two sons in Kelty.

Together with the Chairman of the Scottish Liberal Democrats, Jim Wallace, Rennie was responsible for the election campaign of the party of the first Scottish Parliament elections in 1999. After the Labour MP Rachel Squire, who represented the constituency of Dunfermline and West Fife since the 2005 elections in the House of Commons passed away, were carried out at the beginning of the year 2006 in the relevant constituency elections. These Rennie appeared as a candidate of the Liberal Democrats and received surprisingly, the mandate of the constituency and moved into the British House of Commons. In the following general election in 2010 Rennie could not defend against Thomas Docherty of the Labour Party from his position. The following year, Rennie ran for the Scottish Parliament elections in 2011 on the regional list of polling Region Mid Scotland and Fife. He retired as the only Liberal Democrat in the constituency in the Scottish Parliament.

Due to the poor election results became the party leader, Tavish Scott, from his office. Rennie, succeeded him and since May 2011 Chairman of the Scottish Liberal Democrats.
