Wopławki

Wopławki ( German Woplauken or Woplaucken ) is a village in Poland in the Warmia - Mazury. It belongs to the municipality Kętrzyn in powiat Kętrzyński.

History

At today's Wopławki found in 1311 a battle between the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Teutonic Order instead. Here, the troops of the Order struck under Henry of Plötzke (or Ploczk ) the host of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Vytenis. North of Wopławki is located in a small forest in the middle of a field, a memorial stone at this battle. After the battle, a castle was built which from 1387 to 1389 was the seat of a nurse. The settlement was originally pruzzische end of the 14th century Kulm law. To the village belongs an area of ​​51 feet. 1480, the corresponding area had grown to 60 hooves and the place received Magdeburg rights. 1745 or 1825 was the family of Schmidtseck owner of the goods with an area of 1400 hectares, including 340 hectares of forest. In January 1945, at the end of the Second World War, only a few hours before the arrival of the Red Army, a refugee trek started to move but was shortly thereafter obtained by Soviet troops. Some German residents, including the Gutsfrau, nevertheless managed to escape over the Vistula Lagoon. As a result of the war was Woplauken Wopławki as part of the People's Republic of Poland. 1970, there were in the village a cinema room with 60 seats and a library item. In 1973, the village became part of the Schulz Office ( sołectwo ) Czerniki in the community Kętrzyn. Today it is an independent mayor's office without further villages.

The first mentioned name was Wopelanken. This name probably goes back which is a name and the word for box, click the pruzzische word Wope.

The village Wopławki located at a major road. For the Province Road 591 ( droga wojewódzka 591 ) which is about one kilometer west of the village runs performs a side street. About this and that about two kilometers east location Czerniki can be achieved.
