Worcester Warriors

Worcester Warriors ( Rugby Football Club officially Worcester ) is a rugby union club from the English city of Worcester, which plays in the Aviva Premiership, the top English league. The home games are played at Sixways Stadium.

History

The club was founded in 1871 by Reverend Francis John Ede, the first game took place against the Royal Artillery Rugby Club on November 8, 1871. With the introduction of the league game operation in 1987, the Warriors played in the North Midlands Division One, on the eight highest level. Due to the generous sponsorship by the entrepreneur Cecil Duckworth, a rapid rise began in the upper leagues. From 1998/99, they were represented in the National Division One, the second highest league. In the 2003 /04 season, the Warriors have won all 26 games, something no other team had previously achieved.

In the 2003 /04 season, the Warriors won in the second highest league, the National Division One. They climbed into the Premiership and have established themselves in the top division in the rear midfield. In 2006, she came before the semi-finals in the European Challenge Cup. In 2008, she even reached the finals of this European Cup competition, but subject to Bath Rugby with 16:24. After the 2009/10 season, the Warriors had to dismount, but a year later they succeeded in the immediate resurgence.
