World Championship of Custom Bike Building

The World Championship of Custom Bike Building (German: World Championship of Custom Bike Building ) is an annual competition in Sturgis in the United States, which is organized by the trade magazine American Motorcycle Dealer ( AMD).

The main event takes place at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, which is the largest motorcycle event in the world with about half a million visitors next to the Daytona Beach Bike Week.

German participation

  • 2005

Habermann - Performance ( Langenau, Baden- Württemberg) was with the bike Caligo in 2005 European Champion. In the subsequent World Cup it was chosen at No. 17.

  • 2006

Thunderbike ( Hamminkeln ) achieved second place in the main class freestyle bike Spectacula at the 2006 World Cup. In the previous EM it achieved the first place.

  • 2008

Thunderbike was created using the OpenMind again European Champion and in the subsequent World Cup fifth in the Freestyle class. TGS Motorcycles was third with Sepp Rochester 2 Ice Racer this year.

  • 2009

TGS Motocycles ( Witzmannsberg ) could reach the ninth place in the World Cup. Thunderbike was finished buildings with the Build-a- Billy, a live on the custom bike show in Bad Salzuflen motorcycle, European Champion in the "modified Harley " class.

  • 2012

Thunderbike (Andreas Berger Forth ) was world champion in the freestyle class with the PainTTless. Uwe Ehinger was second in the class "Modified Harley".

Classes

  • Freestyle (World Championship) - The Freestyle class accepts all motorcycles with every conceivable modification. The winner of this class will be declared official world champion.
  • Modified Harley -Davidson - Frame and engine must come from the manufacturer Harley -Davidson. The other modifications and designs everything is permitted.
  • Production Manufacturer - This class includes motorcycles from small series of at least 50 units / year.
  • Metric World Championship - In the Metric class turn to foreign motorcycles.

Qualification

Manufacturer of custom bikes can qualify by winning one of 13 annual events (eg Cologne Custom Championship at Intermot, Cologne) in the world. European champions automatically qualify for the World Cup and prize money received as reimbursed travel expenses, so that small producers get a chance to participate.
