Wülknitz
Wülknitz is a municipality in the district of Meißen in Saxony ( Germany ). The municipality is a member of the administrative community Röderaue - Wülknitz.

Geography
Location
The municipality is located in the Großenhainer care in the Röderaue. The neighboring cities are the City of Great Hain ( 17 km), Groeditz ( 6 km) and Riesa (11 km).
Local structure
The municipality consists of the villages Wülknitz, Heidehäuser, Lichtensee, Peritz, and Streumen Tiefenau.
History
Wülknitz was the first time in 1262, Lichtensee in 1032, Tiefenau in the year 1013 and Peritz mentioned in documents in 1266.
During the Lustlager of time grove, hosted the August the Strong, an opera house was built in Streumen.
On January 1, 1994, the current districts Heidehäuser, Lichtensee, Peritz, Streumen, Tiefenau closed (since November 1, 1952 after incorporation of a district of Lichtensee ) and Wülknitz to present Wülknitz community together.

Traffic
The B 169 and the railway line Riesa- Elsterwerda run by the municipality. By Wülknitzer district Streumen leads the Elsterwerda - Grödel raft channel.
