Wülperode is a district of the city Osterwieck in the district of Harz and forms according to the north-northwest adjacent Göddeckenrode the westernmost settlement of Saxony- Anhalt.

Geographical location

Wülperode located in the northern Harz foreland west-northwest of Osterwieck and south of the city Hornburg ( Lower Saxony). It is located in the valley of the river Oker at Ecker ditch.

History

On November 12, 995 Wendilburgoroth was built by King Otto III. given to the bishopric of Meissen. This is considered a first mention of the place.

Wülperode belonged until 1648 to the Bishopric of Halberstadt and then got to the Principality of Halberstadt. The place was directly subordinated to the Office Stötterlingenburg - Wülperode and arrived in 1815 at the Magdeburg Region of the Prussian Province of Saxony. In 1961 the place was right in the frontier region of the GDR and was only with a special permit to achieve ( pass ). Wülperode was merged on 1 July 1950, the neighboring villages and Göddeckenrode Suderode the new community Dreirode. On September 1, 1990, this church was renamed Wülperode.
