Yan Kaminsky

January Bronislawowitsch Kaminski (Russian Ян Брониславович Каминский; born July 28, 1971 in Penza, Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player, who in his active period from 1987 to 1999, including for the Winnipeg Jets and New York Islanders in the National Hockey League played.

Career

Jan Kaminski began his career as a hockey player in his hometown at Diselist Penza, for the first team, he made his debut in the Perwaja League, the second Soviet league in the season 1987/88. For the 1989/90 season the winger moved to HK Dynamo Moscow from the Wysschaja League, with whom he won the Soviet Championship title at first attempt. He was able to repeat with his team in the 1991/92 season this success. Over the 1991/92 season, he also came to an insert for Fribourg- Gottéron in the Swiss National League A.

For the 1993/94 season, the Russian joined the Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League, who had chosen him already in the NHL Entry Draft in 1991 in the fifth round as the 99th overall player. However, for Winnipeg itself, he came only to a single NHL - use while he played mainly for their farm team in Moncton Hawks of the American Hockey League. In February 1994, he was finally discharged from Winnipeg in the NHL in exchange for Wayne McBean to the New York Islanders, where he had a regular place until end of season. In the shortened because of a lockout season 1994/95 he only came to two other fires in the NHL for the Islanders, while he spent the rest of the season with their farm team in Denver Grizzlies of the International Hockey League. After the team was relocated, he played another two years for their follow- Team Utah Grizzlies. For the season 1997 /98 Links Sniper returned to Europe, where he received a contract with Lukko Rauma of the Finnish SM- liiga. Most recently, he was in the 1998/99 season for his ex-team Utah Grizzlies and the Grand Rapids Griffins of the IHL on the ice. He then finished his career at the age of 28 years.

Internationally

For the Soviet Union Kaminski took part in the U18 European Junior Championships in 1989 and the U20 World Junior Championships in 1990 and 1991. For Russia, he went to the World Cup 1993.
