Yannick Bapupa

Yannick Bapupa ( born January 21, 1982 in Kinshasa) is a football player from the Democratic Republic of Congo. The midfielder, who made his debut in the national team of his native country in 2008, denied his previous professional career in Sweden, and won two league titles with Djurgårdens IF.

Career

Bapupa began playing football in his home country. In 2002 he moved from Kinshasa City Star to Sweden for Djurgårdens IF. In his first season for the club he contributed one goal in ten games to winning the Lennart Johansson - Cup for the Swedish championship title. When winning the Svenska Cupen on 9 November of the year with a 1-0 win over local rivals AIK with a goal by Louay Chanko he was not. In the following years he remained among others due to injury mainly reserve players and arrived at the title defense of the league title the following year in twelve games for use. Nevertheless, he decided together with René Makondele to extend the contract at the Stockholm club. In November 2004 he reached with the team again the Cup final, in a 3-1 victory over IFK Göteborg, he played as a substitute from the 77 minutes for Tomas Backman. In the 2009 Bapupa was still a member of the permanent employees until he injured his knee in September and failed several weeks. After the end of the season in which he scored three goals in 24 games and with Gefle IF managed as a table tenth in the league, he moved free transfer within the Allsvenskan Kalmar FF.
