Yenew Alamirew

Yenew Alamirew (born 27 May 1990) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner.

First international successes achieved Alamirew 2010. Initially he won in June the 5000 -meter run with a smaller athletics meeting in Oordegem. In September, he suggested in a 3000 - meter race in Milan the middle-distance runner Silas Kiplagat surprisingly clear. With his winning time of 7:28,82 minutes, he finished behind his countryman Tariku Bekele took second place in the annual global leaderboard. In October Alamirew won the 4 Mijl van Groningen and was a month out with a second behind Bekele Azmeraw second in the Great Ethiopian Run in Addis Ababa.

Early 2011 caused Alamirew stir when he was in his first indoor race ever ran the 3000 meters at the Sparkassen Cup in Stuttgart in 7:27,80 minutes, while high-class opponents like Augustine Kiprono Choge and Eliud Kipchoge suggested. It was the fourth-fastest spilled into the hall 3000 - meter time. Only Daniel Komen and twice Haile Gebrselassie had ever faster. In his first outdoor race of the season Alamirew won over the same distance in May at the Qatar Athletic Super Grand Prix in Doha with a time of 7:27,26 minutes. Three weeks later he was at the FBK Games in Hengelo in the 5000 -meter run fourth and increased his personal best 13:02,71 minutes.

At the Olympic Games in London in 2012, he was twelfth over 5000 meters.
