Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory

The State Yerevan Komitas Conservatory (Armenian Կոմիտասի անվան Երեվանի Պետական ​​Երաժշտական ​​Կոնսերվատորիա, scientific transliteration Komitas -i anvan Haykakan petakan Yerashschtanots; Russian spelling Ереванская государственная консерватория имени Комитаса ) is a located in the Armenian capital Yerevan Conservatory and is considered prestigious musical training facility Armenia. History

The facility was the first Armenian Conservatory founded in 1921 by Romanos Melikian, an Armenian pianist, composer and conductor who was trained at the Moscow Conservatory. It was named after the founder of the classical music of Armenia Komitas Vardapet.

The folk artist Aram Khachaturian has held a position as professor of theory and harmony here until about 1972.

Acting Rector since 2002 has been the pianist Sergey Sarajyan.
