Yip Wing-sie

Yip Wing -sie (, * 1960 in Guangzhou Chinese叶 咏诗/叶 咏诗) is a Chinese violinist and conductor from Hong Kong.

Life

Yip studied violin and conducting at the Royal College of Music in London and at Indiana University in Bloomington. 1986 and 1992 she attended the help of two scholarships conducting courses at the Tanglewood Music Center in Massachusetts. Her teachers include Leonard Bernstein, Norman Del Mar, Seiji Ozawa, David Atherton and Gustav Meier.

She is since 2002 music director of the Hong Kong Sinfonietta and toured through Asia, Europe and South America. In addition, she is the first guest conductor of the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, which she ran from 1997 to 2003. From 1986 to 2000, she stood in front of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. They conducted beyond inter alia, New Japan Philharmonic, Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse and Warsaw Philharmonic. She played in the Vienna Musikverein and other famous concert halls. Yip collaborated with musicians such as Augustin Dumay, Shlomo Mintz, Fou Ts'ong, Itzhak Perlman, Anne- Sophie Mutter and Pinchas Zukerman.

From 2005 to 2006 she was a visiting professor at the National University of Singapore. In 2010 she became a Fellow of the Royal College of Music.
