You're a Sweetheart

You're a Sweetheart is an American romantic film musical from the year 1937. It was produced by Buddy G. DeSylva, directed by David Butler at Universal Pictures in Black and White. The U.S. premiere took place on December 26, 1937.

Action

The Broadway producer Don King is worried about the launch of its new show. The premiere will take place on the same evening as a great benefit gala. In order to make the show interesting, he engaged the waiter Hal Adams, disguised as a millionaire buys tickets for the entire first week of the show for themselves. Under the pretext that he was in Betty Bradley, the star of the show, in love, Hal visited every evening the show. He falls indeed in Betty, who is unaware of the fraud. Because the fear grows to be unmasked, Hal submerges before the actual premiere. Don is now broke because Hal has spent the money without restraint in his role as a millionaire, and the show threatens to fall into the water. He confesses to Betty everything, and this manages to create zoom on an advertising contract money, so the show can take place. The show is a success, and Hal and Betty marry.
