Zaurbek Baysangurov

Saurbek Bajsangurow (Russian Заурбек Байсангуров; born March 2, 1985 in Samashki, Rajon Atschchoi -Martan, Chechnya ) is a Russian professional boxer and current world champion of the WBO light middleweight.

Amateur career

Bajsangurow in 2001 Russian cadets featherweight champion and 2002 Russian Junior champion in the light welterweight division.

In July 2001 he started at the 6th Cadet European Championships in Liverpool, where he won the gold medal in the featherweight. He defeated in the semifinals while the Italians Nunzio Buonerba, and in the finale the Turks Sedat Taşçı. In October of the same year, he also still took part in the first Cadet World Championships in Baku, where he entered the semi-finals by defeating Yurdenis Thaureaux Cuban featherweight. There he was defeated this time Sedat Taşçı and thus won a bronze medal.

In September 2002, he won a bronze medal in the light welterweight, at the 12th World Junior Championships in Santiago de Cuba. After victories against Aslan Bairamov from Azerbaijan, Hwang Ryong of South Korea and the Mexican Juan de Dios Navarro, he was drafted again into the semifinals where he was defeated by the Cuban Vilier Quinones.

In August 2003, he was still the gold medal in the welterweight division, winning at the 18th Junior European Championships in Warsaw. He overcame this Mindaugas Spakauskas from Lithuania, Dian Petrov from Bulgaria, Stefan Dragomir of Romania, Serhiy Derewjantschenko from Ukraine and Rachib Bejlarow from Azerbaijan.

Professional career

In 2004 he was in Ukraine professional and boxed already on 20 November for the first time in Germany when he was next to Nikolai Valuev, Arthur Abraham and Marco Huck committed at an event organized by Sauerland Event in the Big Box Allgäu Kempten. He defeated unanimously despite a hand fracture the undefeated Argentine Pablo Martin Paoliello ( 6:0 ) on points. In February 2005, he struck at the Berlin Max -Schmeling-Halle the turned professional exchanged, Berlin amateur record champion Adnan Özcoban (2-0) early in the fourth round.

On 16 September 2005, he secured himself in his eleventh pro fight in the Ukrainian Dnipropetrovsk, the Youth World Champion title of IBF middleweight. Alaggio suffered two rainfall and was eventually taken in the ninth round by the referee after a serious effect results from the fight.

In January 2006, he defended the title in Berlin ahead against John Chibuta ( 6:2 ) from Zambia and in April 2006 also prematurely against László Burányi ( 20:3 ) from Hungary. In the fight for the WBC International Light Middleweight Championship in the September 23, 2006 in Kiev, he had against Marco Antonio Rubio ( 34:3 ) on the first occasion to the ground, defeated the Mexicans but ultimately unanimous decision. In his very next fight on July 7, 2007 in Cologne, he defeated the French Hussein Bayram ( 24-2 ) also by unanimous decision and won the vacant European title EBU light middleweight.

After two early title defenses against novel Dzhuman ( 23-4 ) and Ion Gonta (18-1 ), he had on December 13, 2008 in Mannheim against Cornelius Bundrage ( 28:4 ) his first loss as a professional to accept. On July 30, 2011, he was interim world champion of the WBO light middleweight; he defeated while the Brazilian Mike Miranda ( 34:3 ) by Ko in the first round. On October 5, 2011, he was named the WBO for new regular world champion in the light middleweight titlist Serhiy since Dsindsiruk too long denied any title defense and it was therefore the championship belt was withdrawn.

12 May 2012 Baysangurow won by unanimous decision against Frenchman Michel Soro ( 18:0 ) and on October 6, 2012 also unanimously against the Czechs Lukáš Konečný ( 48-3 ).

Due to a training injury, he could not defend his title within the prescribed period mid-2013 to defend against Demetrius Andrade, why him the WBO but knew the title. Andrade then secured in November 2013, now vacant title with a points win over Wanes Martirosijan.

By 2012, he was trained by his uncle Uwais Bajsangurow, its current coach is the Californian Abel Sánchez.

His brother Salambek Bajsangurow and his cousin Alaudin Murtasaliew were also professional boxers.
