Zend Technologies is a software company headquartered in Cupertino, USA, technology center in Ramat Gan, Tel Aviv, Israel, with offices in Germany, France, Ireland and Italy. The main focus of the company is on products and services in the development, deployment and management of PHP based web applications. These include Zend Server, Zend Guard and the cross-platform development environment, Zend Studio. In the past, belonged Zend Platform and Zend Core to the manifold are still in use.
History
Zend Technologies Inc. was founded by software developers Andi Gutmans and Zeev Suraski in Israel than Zend Technologies Ltd.. founded, which evolved along with other graduates of the Technion, the free and open- source scripting language PHP to its development by Rasmus Lerdorf.
1997 wrote Gutmans and Suraski to the parser of PHP -FI, which was created by Lerdorf, resulting in PHP 3. In 1998, she worked this parser to completely and called him Zend Engine. The acronym "Zend " is derived from the first names, Zeev and Andi. Gutmans and Suraski are also mainly responsible for the development of PHP 5 and the Zend Engine in version 2, the core of PHP. PHP 4 is based on the first version of the Zend Engine.
In 1999 they founded their company officially Zend Technologies in Tel Aviv, Israel, supported by a start-up funding of Israeli venture capital investors Platinum Neurone Ventures and Walden Israel. Doron Gerstel became CEO of the company.
In 2004, Zend Technologies on $ 8 million in Series C funding and established a headquarters in the United States. In January 2005, Intel Capital and SAP Ventures were added in Zend Technologies as investors.
2005 also saw the establishment of Zend Technologies GmbH subsidiary in Munich.
In June 2006, Zend Technologies was awarded the Best Startup Software Company Award of the Israeli Venture Association Annual Hi Tech Conference in Tel Aviv. In August 2006 Zend Technologies took $ 20 million to in Series D funding.
In February 2009, Zend co-founder Andi Gutmans has been appointed Chief Executive Officer, having previously served as VP of Research and Development. Zend also recruited Mark Burton, who previously served as EVP of Worldwide Sales and Alliances at MySQL worked as CEO.
Products
Zend Server
Zend Server, currently in version 6.3.0, is a complete Web application server for deployment, execution and administration of PHP applications on Linux, Windows or IBM i In the commercial version, it includes features such as application monitoring, code tracing and job queue. It is also available with reduced features than free Zend Server Community Edition.
Zend Studio
Zend Studio, currently in version 10.0, is a development environment (IDE ) for PHP scripting language. Developed for the Java platform tool is available for Linux, Windows and Mac OS X. The new Eclipse integration, it is possible (eg JavaScript) to combine various web languages in a development environment with PHP as well as to use all the plugins that are created as part of the Eclipse project. Parallel Zend offers a version without Eclipse to (which, however, the obsolescence of Zend Studio is ) to allow the gradual migration.
In addition to a dynamic code addition, documentation generation ( PHPDoc ), optional access to the version control systems Subversion and CVS, as well as FTP and MySQL integration offers the Zend Studio and Others also includes an integrated debugger that PHP itself is missing. In the Windows version script outputs can be evaluated without additional web browser using an embedded application in the Internet Explorer window. Together with the Zend Studio Server and an Apache server programs can be debugged directly on the web server.
Furthermore, there is a "Code Analyser" looking for typical sources of error in the source code, such as variable assignments in accidental conditions (Example: if ( $ variable = 1) instead of if ( $ variable == 1) ). There is also a profiling support that makes it easier to detect bottlenecks in the code.
Zend Studio 9.0 is characterized mainly by the support for cloud services, such as Zend Developer Cloud. Also included is the AWSToolkit for simplified interaction with AWS services like EC2 and S3.
Zend Guard

Zend Optimizer
Zend Optimizer is a runtime environment that is required for the execution of protected with Zend Guard PHP files. It is available for free and pre-installed on most web hosting companies.

Zend Framework
The Zend Framework is a component- oriented framework for PHP 5 classes and packages can be used independently and in combination with the solutions of other manufacturers are used. The functionality is implemented completely object-oriented and requires PHP version 5 is currently the Zend Framework in version 2.2.5 ( 31 October 2013) before.

Phpcloud.com is a free cloud offering and consists of the Zend Developer Cloud, a cloud environment for development, as well as Zend Application Fabric, a stable application platform. Both are available on Amazon Web Services.
