Zlaté Klasy

Zlaté Klasy (Hungarian Nagymagyar ) is a large municipality in Okres Dunajská Streda within the Trnavský kraj in southwestern Slovakia.

It lies in the Danubian Lowland on the Great Rye Island on the right bank of the Little Danube. It is located 13 km from Senec, 26 km from Bratislava and 27 km from Dunajská Streda.

The community was founded in 1956 by the merger of Rastice (up to 1948 Slovak " Velky lean "; German wholesale stomach village, Hungarian Nagymagyar ) Čenkovce (up to 1948 Slovak " Csenke "; Hungarian Csenke ) and Maslovce (up to 1948 Slovak " Vajasvata "; Hungarian Vajasvatta ). Čenkovce, located between the main town and district Rastice Maslovce, is again self-employed since 1993. The name Zlaté Klasy means "golden ears ".

The district Rastice was first mentioned in 1237 as de Castrenes skimmed. The origin of the name is the name of one of ancient Hungarian tribes. The place belonged to the estate of Pressburg, then since the mid-14th century the families Olgyai, Dankházy, Csorba, Illésházy until 1553 Pressburger Poor Clare and Paul Medal earned the place, the possession by the end of the 18th century retained. Although the municipality in 1673 was granted the right to hold weekly markets taken, she was awarded in 1699 it was back to the market town.

Until 1918/1919 the village belonged to the county Pressburg the Kingdom of Hungary, after which they came to the newly formed Czechoslovakia. 1938-45 he was on the basis of the First Vienna Award once again part of Hungary.

According to the 2001 census, lived in the village of 3475 inhabitants, with the following nationality breakdown: 67.7 percent Hungarians, Slovaks, 24.6 percent and 7.1 percent Roma. 94 percent of residents gave their religious affiliation as Catholic.
