Zvolenská Slatina

Zvolenska Slatina (up to 1927 " VeLka Slatina "; German Great Latina, Hungarian Nagyszalatna ) is a town in central Slovakia with 2807 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011).

Geography

The municipality is located in the basin Zvolenska kotlina the mountain range Javorie the river Slatina. The center is located at an altitude of 341 m nm and is about 11 km away from Zvolen.

To place since the incorporation includes the village Slatinka ( German Small Latina, Hungarian Kisszalatna ).

History

Zvolenska Slatina was first mentioned in 1263 as Sancta Crux de Solio.

Well-known personalities from Zvolenska Slatina are the inventor Ján Bahýľ (1856-1916) and the writer Terézia Vansová (b. 1857).
