1960–61 Soviet League season
The 1960/61 season was the 15th season of the Klass A as the highest Soviet Hockey League. The Soviet league title secured for the ninth time in total CSKA Moscow.

Mode
The 19 teams in the Klass A were first divided into the main round in two groups with nine or ten players. The teams met in each return match on each of their group opponents, causing the teams in Group A are each 18 games and the teams in the group B of 16 games disputed. The top three teams from each group qualified for the final round, the winner champion. The teams, which places four to six occupied in the main round, met in the placement round for seventh place, the other seven teams in the placement round to 13th place on each other. In the final round, as well as the placement rounds all teams met three times in each group opponents. For a win, each team was given two points, a draw there was a point and a defeat.
