1964 Copa Libertadores

The Copa Campeones de América in 1964 was the 5th edition of the most important South American football competition for club teams. 11 teams took part, including 8 national champion last year and from Brazil holders FC Santos and the winner of the cup competition, the Taça Brasil, since there is no national championship has been held. From Bolivia took the same reason the winner of the cup competition part. Venezuela had a representative at the start for the first time. The tournament began on April 12 and ended on August 12, 1964 with the final second leg. The Argentine representative CA Independiente won the final against Nacional Montevideo and was first winner of the Copa Libertadores.
