2011 American League Division Series
Texas Rangers winning the ALDS 2
The American League Division Series 2011 ( ALDS ) will take place between 30 September and 6 October 2011 and is part of the MLB Postseason 2011 season. It is used to determine which line up two teams in the American League Championship Series in 2011 against each other. There are two best-of -five series, in which the winners of the three divisions of the American League and a wildcard team to participate. The pairings are as follows:
- New York Yankees (winner of the Eastern Division, 97-65 ) against Detroit Tigers (winner of the Central Division, 95-67 ).
The Yankees and the Tigers meet for the second time after having won in 2006 Detroit 3-1.;
- Texas Rangers ( winners of the West Division, 96-66 ) against Tampa Bay Rays ( wild card team, 91-71 ).
The Rays and Rangers meet for the second time in a row in the ALDS. The year before, the Rangers have prevailed 3-2.

The game began with a two-out one- run home run for the Tigers Delmon Young, which was immediately paid by the Yankees after they scored a No-Hit Run. The batter Derek Jeter reached first base by Uncaught Third Strike, then he came to the third base by Curtis Grandersons Walk and Robinson Canós groundout and then scored the Run by a groundout by Alex Rodriguez. The game was stopped in the middle of the second innings due to strong rain and rescheduled for the next day, which is also the second game postponed by one day.

The Rays surprised with their decision, the inexperienced Pitcher Matt Moore only the second time ever to use as a starter. But he did a great job for seven innings, where he allowed only two hits and scored six strike outs. The guests from Tampa Bay were not stopping even when batting. After a two-run home run by Johnny Damon in the second inning of the very well -harmonized with Moore Catcher Kelly Shoppach made by two home runs with 5 RBIs for the soothing and ultimately decisive 8-0 lead. The only two hits for the Rangers scored Josh Hamilton, whose dazzling career began in the franchise system to the Rays in 1999.
