Becicherecu Mic

Becicherecu Mic, also Becicherecul - Mic ( German Post - Betschkerek or Kleinbetschkerek, Serbian Mali Bečkerek, Hungarian Kisbecskerek, between 1920-1925 Tichindeal ) is a municipality in Timiş, Banat, 17 km northwest of Timisoara ( Timisoara ).

Location

The height above sea level of the Adriatic Sea is 79-88 m. The village is crossed by the national road DN 6 Timişoara Sânnicolau - Mare and has over railroad tracks, Timişoara - Cenad connection to the railway network.

Etymology

1232 takes the name Terra Potkerequ first appearance. One hundred years later in 1332 the site was mentioned. 1462 the domain of Hagymasy family from Beregsau was assigned by means of a donation. During the otomanischen reign (1552-1716) was known as Crucea. At the beginning of Hapsburg rule ( 1717) the town was under the name Peschered (Romanian: Pescăreţ ) registered what (Romanian Balti cu peste ) as much as fish ponds means. On the Mercykarte from 1723 first appeared in the name Becicherecu Mic, resulting from the landowner Pechereky. Appeared in 1743 under the name of the place Bezsierek. From 1920 to 1925, the town was named after the Tichindeal Romanian scholar Dimitrie Tichindeal. However, this name could not prevail among the population.

History

Becicherecu Mic in 1332 first mentioned. Course of Joseph land survey of Claudius Florimund Mercy ( 1727) the village of 36 houses, inhabited by Serbian shepherd was. 1785 saw the founding of German Klein Betschkereks. In the raizischen south of the settlement of colonists built 116 houses attracted a German settler. In 1890 came the merger of the two towns under the name Small Betschkerek.

Even before the war, in January 1945, all German -born men aged 16-45 and women between 18-30 were deported to construction work in the Soviet Union. The land reform law of 23 March 1945 which provided for the expropriation of German farmers in Romania, the rural population deprived the livelihood. The nationalization law of June 11, 1948, provided for the nationalization of all industrial and commercial establishments, banks and insurance companies, whereby all farms were expropriated, regardless of ethnicity. On June 18, 1951, the deportation took place in the Bărăgan - steppe, according to the " plan for the evacuation of elements over a stretch of 25 km, representing their presence a threat to the border area with Yugoslavia " instead. Confessions

The village has three churches, a Roman Catholic, a Serbian Orthodox and a Romanian Orthodox. The foundation stone for the Roman Catholic church of small Betschkerek was laid on 29 May 1810 and consecrated on November 17, 1811 in honor of the Immaculate Conception. At 42 m, it was one of the highest churches in the Banat. The Catholic church was during a storm in 1998 severely damaged.
