CECAFA-Cup

The CECAFA Cup, completely CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup ( German East and Central Africa Championship), is a football competition for East and Central African teams, the, takes place every year since 1973, except for the years 1986, 1993, 1997 and 1998 and organized by CECAFA will. Eligible are basically its eleven member associations. Almost regularly are also teams from neighboring regions, especially southern Africa invited, or have in the past already tournaments held there. With Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe are three such teams have already been entered in the list of winners. Precursor tournaments were 1926-1966 the Gossage Cup, the oldest football tournament in Africa ( sponsored by soap manufacturer William Gossage ), and 1967-1971 of the Challenge Cup.

2005 and 2006, the tournament was sponsored by the Saudi billionaire Sheikh Mohammed Al Amoudi and renamed to 2007 in Al Amoudi Senior Challenge Cup.
