Champagnac-la-Prune

Champagnac -la -Prune is a commune with 173 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Corrèze, in the Limousin region. The municipality is a member of the Association of Municipalities Doustre et plateau of Étangs. The inhabitants call themselves Champagnacois (it).

Geography

The municipality is located in the Massif Central and is surrounded by extensive forests. The prefecture of the department of Tulle is located approximately 25 kilometers north-west and Égletons 32 km northeast easily.

Neighboring communities of Champagnac -la -Prune are Gumond in the north, La Roche- Canillac in the Northeast, Saint- Martin-la- Méanne in the east, Saint- Bazile -de- la -Roche in the Southeast, Saint -Bonnet- Elvert in the south, Saint -Sylvain in the southwest, and Saint -Paul in the West.

Etymology

First, the place was called Champagnac- près Laroche, then Champagnac- lès -Roche and finally Champagnac -la- Pauvre. Later the church got its present name.

History

The parish, whose patron Saint. Peter was, belonged to the diocese of Limoges. There were two locks in place: Château de la Gautherie was renovated in the 19th century. The Château de la Roche Lafont in the hamlet Grafeuille until the end of the 14th century was the seat of the d' Aigrefeuille family. The Gauthier family was up to their extinction in the 14th century master of the other lock. Later it had the families Chaunac, Soudeilles and Beaufort. 1843, the hamlet of Le Chassang, Le Theil, Graffeuille and Les Vergnes were incorporated.
