Franklin County (Georgia)

The Franklin County is a county located in the state of Georgia in the United States. Administrative office ( County Seat) is Carnesville.

Geography

The County is located in the north of Georgia, bordered on the northeast by South Carolina and has an area of 690 square kilometers, of which eight square kilometers of water surface are bordered clockwise to the following counties: Hart County, Madison County, Banks County and Stephens County.

History

Franklin County was formed as a ninth county in Georgia as original County on February 25, 1784. It was named after Benjamin Franklin. From the Franklin County later went forth: the Banks County, Barrow County, the, the Clarke County, the Jackson County, the Oconee County, Stephens County and parts of Gwinnett County, Hall County, Hart County and Madison County.
