Turner County (Georgia)

The Turner County is a county located in the state of Georgia in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Ashburn.

Geography

The County is located in south-central Georgia, is removed from the northern border of Florida about 120 miles and has an area of ​​751 square kilometers, of which ten square kilometers of water surface are bordered clockwise to the following counties: Wilcox County, Ben Hill County, Irwin County, Tift County, Worth County and Crisp County.

History

Turner County was formed on 18 August 1905 as 143 County Georgia from portions of Dooly County, of Irwin County, the Wilcox County and Worth County. It was named after Henry Gray Turner, a captain in the Confederate and later a member of the U.S. Congress.
