Joseph Alphonsus Bernard

Joseph Alphonsus Bernard ( born March 27, 1881 in Tignish, Prince Edward Iceland, † September 7, 1962 in Charlottetown ) was a Canadian entrepreneur. From 1945 to 1950 he was vice- governor of the province of Prince Edward Iceland.

The Acadians Bernard, grandson of the lower house deputies Stanislaus Francis Perry, received an education at a trade school. He managed the family-owned company Morris, Bernard and Co., he also served as President of the Chamber of Commerce of Tignish and as a recruiting officer. As a member of the Prince Edward Iceland Liberal Party he joined in 1943 with success in the elections to the Legislative Assembly of. Deputy Bernard remained for only two years, as Governor-General Lord Athlone sworn him on 30 May 1945 as Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Iceland. This representative office he held until October 4, 1950.
