Marion Loretta Reid

Marion Loretta Reid, CM, O.PEI ( born January 2, 1929 in North Rustico, Prince Edward Iceland ) is a Canadian politician. From 1990 to 1995 she was Deputy Governor of the Province of Prince Edward Iceland.

Reid trained as a teacher and taught for over twenty years at various schools. In addition, she served on several committees in education and was a leading member of various charitable organizations. As a member of the Prince Edward Iceland Progressive Conservative Party candidate in 1979 it successfully for a seat in the Legislative Assembly. 1982 and 1986 she succeeded each re-election. In 1984 she became the first woman ever elected Speaker of the Provincial Parliament. Governor General Ray Hnatyshyn sworn Reid on 16 August 1990 as the first Vice- Governor of Prince Edward Iceland. This representative office she held until August 30, 1995.
