Kostelec u Holešova

Kostelec u Holešova ( German Kosteletz at Holleschau, formerly Kosteletz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located seven kilometers north-west of Holešov and belongs to Okres Kroměříž.

Geography

Kostelec u Holešova is located in the western foothills of Podbeskydská pahorkatina ( Vorbeskidenhügelland ) at the transition to the Upper Moravian Valley ( Hornomoravský úval ). The village lies on the source basin of the creek Kostelecký creek. To the north rise the Holý Kopec (360 m) and the Vranice (332 m ) and in the north east of the Hrad ( 363 m). To the north- east stretches the forest area Kostelecký les, part of the territory of the village.

Neighboring towns are Beňov, Karlovice and Líšná in the north, Lipová, Kozrál and Zámeček in the northeast, Pacetluky in the east, Roštění the southeast, Rymice and Pravčice in the south, Němčice the southwest, Žalkovice in the west and Stara Ves, Přestavlky and Dobrčice in the northwest.

History

Archaeological finds indicate a prehistoric settlement in the municipal area. In Koste Last forest grave hill Lusatian ceramic urn with amphorae and bronze fibulae and bracelets were found.

The first mention of Kostelci was in 1131 in a freight directory of the Olomouc Bishop Heinrich Zdik. On the Hrad or Hradisko was in the 13th century a fortress. In 1368 the city was designated as Costelecz and 1537 as Kostelecz. Over time, numerous noble families, including the Prusinovský of Víckov and the Lords of Lobkowicz alternated as the owner. In 1650 John of Rottalblick acquired the property, he united the gentry and Bistritz Holleschau to a great dominion. The inhabitants of the village earned their livelihood mostly by hand weaving. 1717 formed in Prusinovice a Weber guild, which also includes the Weber from Bořenovice, Roštění, Kostelec, Líšná and Pacetluky were connected. Coat of arms

Kostelec u Holešova since 1997 has a coat of arms and banners. The coat of arms shows on a red shield, a crossed sword and key symbolizing the local Saints Peter and Paul.
