Meggenhofen

Meggenhofen is a municipality in Upper Austria in the Gries district churches in Hausruckviertel with 1398 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Gries churches.

Geographical Location

Meggenhofen is located on 390 m altitude in Hausruckviertel. The expansion is 6.3 kilometers from north to south, from west to east 5.2 km. The total area is 18.2 km ². 13.7% of the area is forested, 75.8 % of the area is used for agriculture.

The municipality comprises the cadastral Meggenhofen, parsonage mountain and Wilhelm Berg.

Coat of arms

Blazon: Over green sign foot, in a silver, sechsstrahliger star, in silver, a black magpie with a golden beak and golden feet. The municipality colors are white - green.

The coat of arms granted in 1976 based on the image of the seals Pschenko Ketringer from the year 1416. The Ketringer were an important family in Upper and Lower Austria, which held also the noble seat Meggenhofen.

History

Originally in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria lying, was the place since the 12th century the Duchy of Austria. The Steinbacher service man Sigibert ( Sigibrant ) de Mekchenhoven had here in 1170 a precious seat. 1302 was the first mention of a vicarage. In the 14th century there was a repeated mention of a castle, which held 1380 Wernhart Tutschenberger, 1386 Heinrich Fleischhacker and 1388 Stefan Geymann. Since 1490 he is the Principality ' Austria above the Enns ' attributed.

During the Napoleonic Wars, the place was occupied several times. From 1810 to 1816, the state line ran right through the town, a part of the municipality belonged to the Kingdom of Bavaria. Since 1918, the town belongs to the province of Upper Austria. After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on 13 March 1938, the town belonged to the " Upper Danube ". After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria.

Policy

Mayor Wilfried Suchy ( SPÖ). In 1991 the municipality had 1,227 inhabitants according to the census, in 2001 then 1236 inhabitants.

Regular events

  • Theater in the farm: since 1969 every summer ( June-July, about 6 weeks) takes place in the village courtyard party games Schlattmann
  • Mooslandl rally: held annually since 1990 for several days Oldtimertreffen

Sports

In Meggenhofen there is a football pitch, 2 tennis courts, a curling hall and a model airfield.
